Cruise ships stink!

There are 25 more cruise ships scheduled to visit Te Whanganui a Tara before the end of 2025. That’s 25 huge ship loads of stinky pollution to the waters and skies around the beautiful harbour in just three months!

And first to visit is maybe the worst of the worst:
the Carnival Splendor brings its stink to town Sunday, 26 October.

Friends of the Earth gives it an F rating due to its terrible treatment of sewage and water in general. YUCK!

What would our wildlife neighbours like the orcas visiting Island Bay and Red Rocks on 30 September think?

Carnival Splendor: Is it releasing bilge water full of pathogens from other ports, is it unsettling sediment from the sea floor, or is it releasing untreated sewage? Whatever the case it’s making a mess of the natural environment.
It’s much less damaging for the planet were tourists aboard to take airplanes and travel overland.
